WHY I'M RUNNING FOR COMMISSIONER FOR THE WATER RECLAMATION DISTRICT OF GREATER CHICAGO
My name is Nadine Anne Bopp and I am a life-long environmentalist. My everyday life, my education, my professional career and my current teaching all revolve around environmental issues and unearthing and employing pragmatic solutions to overcome climate change and global warming.
Today, I am proud to announce my successful bid to become one of the Green Party's candidates for Commissioner of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago in this November's general election.
The job of Commissioner of the MWRD is a much-overlooked position by Cook County voters. It is not a 'sexy' job, compared to high profile statewide and federal positions, but it is one that directly impacts every citizen, everyday in Cook County.
How well your wastewater is cleaned directly impacts the quality of your drinking water. The MWRD is also responsible for storm-water management which impacts local flooding whenever we have a major rain or snow event. These two issues are the driving force behind my candidacy.
When elected to the Board, I will be a voice for clean water that embraces the 'precautionary principle' to insure clean and safe availability for generations to come.
I will also promote decentralization technologies so local citizens can begin to make decisions that directly affect water quality-of-life issues in their immediate neighborhoods.
As an elected official I will respect the ten key values of the Green Party in every decision I make. I intend to not just live green at the personal level, but to green the MWRD.
TEN KEY VALUES
That's why I'm asking for your vote on November 4th
